In a show of bravery, Minister of Regional Intergration Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga on Tuesday attended cabinet meeting armed with the “banned” shortwave radio receiver which she later handed to President Robert Mugabe. Misihairabwi-Mushonga, who is MDC Secretary General is said to have expressed her displeasure to Mugabe.
“We had no idea that she will pull such a brave act. She showed President Mugabe the “banned” radio saying she has no clue why police outlawed the radios.Mugabe took the radio and said it was his belated birthday gift” a source told Radio Dialogue.
Over the weekend Misihairabwi-Mushonga told Gwanda North villagers that the banning of the short wave radios was nonsensical and a violation of the basic human rights. Police last week announced a shock ban on short wave radios that have the capacity to receive transmission from international stations.
