Divisions continue to persist within the Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC party amid reports that a recent audit of Bulawayo provincial structures unearthed several parallel structures in some districts.
The party has 12 districts in the province whose seats in the House of Assembly were won by party representatives in 2008.
According to party members, the audit process was hampered due to existence of two structures in some districts.
The audit team had no mandate to select a legitimate structure in the event that two or more are found to be in existence.
“There were two structures found in Bulawayo East, Luveve and Makokoba and the audit team will have to report back to the provincial and national executives before the issue is resolved,” said the source.
Contacted for comment the party’s provincial spokesperson Mandlenkosi Sibanda said the party they can’t comment before the audit report has been compiled.
He said the audit was conducted well and it was mainly concerned with checking if the names of people on the list really existed on the ground.
Sibanda said the team would also compile a party database with all the names of districts structures.
