Last October the residents demonstrated at council offices saying they could not afford the money being charged by the local authority which ranges between $42 and $55 per month. They also alleged that service delivery is substandard.
Chairperson of the Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) at the ward Mandulo Ncube told Radio Dialogue that their patience is running out as they are yet to receive a response from council.
“We are going to resume demonstrations because those people have given us a cold shoulder on the matter,” said Ncube. “This makes us to believe that the city council does not take our grievances seriously.”
Meanwhile attempts to get comments from the City Council Housing Department were futile.
