Saviour KasukuwereBulawayo youths today Monday called on the ministry of youth development, indigenisation and economic empowerment to ease the application procedures for youth funds.

The ministry is currently assisting youths set up businesses through a fund managed by CABS.

Speaking at a meeting between city youths and minister Saviour Kasukuwere in Bulawayo Methuseli Ndlovu said the ministry should reduce some of the steps to ensure easy access to funds..

“The process involved in accessing the funds is very long and it takes forever for the bank to inform you that your application has been unsuccessful,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu also said such forums should be organised even if there are no looming elections.

“Such matters have to be dealt with well in advance because we will end up taking your timing as an election strategy,” he said.

Kasukuwere told the gathering that his ministry will look into the issue.

“I am aware that the process of getting funds have been frustrating to most of our youths,” said Kasukuwere. “After this I will be empowered to present the issues to my colleagues.”
